A year ago we were sharing the news of our involvement in the Association of Faculties of Medicine of Canada initiative to answer to the Canadian Government decision to address the Opioid crisis. In January 2019, we had the privilege of working along side the AFMC on an environmental review of content and curricula from various academic sites, public organizations and published literature. The findings helped inform the development of a curriculum consisting of bilingual online courses that are based on established competencies for student physicians that address gaps in current educational offerings.
With COVID-19, Canada has seen a rise in opioid use, making this initiative, pertinent and timely more than ever. We are proud to have collaborated on this much needed and important project.
